I think people really gravitate towards that.
This interview has been edited and condensed for clarity.
Guillermo was the underdog, and he didnt speak a lot, actually, in the first season.
He was morethere, being the familiar, and he spoke with his face.
You could tell what he was thinking when he just looked at the camera.
Were all Guillermo at one point or another in our lives.
Weve been in a job that we hate and we dont get promoted, or were overlooked for promotion.
I think everyone can relate to all the human emotions that Guillermo has.
And what is the bond that they have?
Its really a tough situation to be in, and its a fork in the road.
Even when Im reading the scripts, it feels very, Oh my God, whats gonna happen?
Because its a slow burn with them.
And I think people are like, No, do something!
Either be together or not be together, or say something!
Or is one of you not into it?
Or maybe its not even love like that?
That could be a possibility.
Its just,whatis it?
I think everyones just eager to know, like, Tell us what it is!
Its been so black-and-white for so long.
They could chop your heart out or bite you or snap your neck.
The difference with Guillermo is he doesnt talk about sexuality.
Will it happen for Guillermo?
You have support, you have chosen family.
Thats another reason why Guillermo sticks around, that mentality of, I want to help.
He needs me, he needs me.
Being wanted is a feeling that some people long for.
Some peoplehaveto be needed, so theres a purpose for you in this world.
And thats why he sticks around.
He couldve left them; he owes them nothing.
So he could have been an asshole about it and said, Thats not my problem.
And I see that, sadly, in a lot of other professions.
At his core, hes a good person.
I also think that people are pushed to their limits, and hes definitely been pushed to his.
For so long, people are rooting for him, they get so mad.
Cmon, make him a vampire!
Or Cmon, Guillermo, get a backbone.
But what are the repercussions of that?
His hair has changed a lot.
Guillermo looks very put-together in a different way than he used to.You caught it; its the small details.
The costume changes a little bit, his hair changes to the side.
When the promotion happened, he wanted to look professional.
And confidence never hurt anybody.
For so long, Guillermo didnt feel confident in his own skin.
I think hes coming into his own knowing, These are my strengths and theyre badass.
