The launch of these new services offered a golden opportunity to get the best possible deals.

But ad-supported video on demand (AVOD) services broke through in a big way in 2020.

RIP, Quibi.

Theres no doubt the launch and quick downfall of Jeffrey Katzenbergs short-form streamer wasa much-covered story of the year.

Spectacular business failures tend to get a lot of ink!

But in the end, Quibi had littleactualimpact on the streaming business.

Almost none of the content that ended up on the service wouldve gone to a more established platform.

(And the stuff that might have?

It may yet end up streaming as rights owners look to sell off their creations.)
