History books fail to mention just how many Sad Adult Men were wandering around in Colonial America.

Fear not!Outlanderhas us covered in that regard.
As we all know, the English are great about all that keep calm and carry on stuff.
Unfortunately, Claires been mostly sidelined this season even thoughshe is literally keeping Frasers Ridge alivewith her DIY penicillin.
But that rage is for me to take out on my TV by myself.
So, what are the Sad Adult Men sad about?
Lets talk about it.
Its been three months sincethe tragedies that befell the Frasers at the Battle of Alamance.
Of course Jamie is still a complete mess over losing Murtagh we all are.
But there is not there is only time.
Jamie isnt the Sad Man were most concerned about at the moment, though.
That distinction goes to Roger.
Every time Roger flashes back to that awful day at Alamance, its done like a silent film.
It seems wholly unnecessary and distracts from the intensity of whats being depicted, but sure.
Lets go with a silent-movie theme.
But thats what is wrong with Roger, hes suffering from PTSD.
And suffering a whole lot.
He keeps replaying what happened over and over.
In true Outlanderloves to hammer home the trauma fashion, we have to watch his hanging repeatedly.
That sometimes she still does.
But she gets nothing out of him except for the one time he screams dont!
when Jemmy almost touches a hot tea kettle.
She just wants her husband back.
Who is this Third Sad Man, you ask?
You guys, Young Ian is back.
Jamie and Claire are beyond excited to see him, but Ian has changed.
Its not just his appearance, either his entire demeanor is different.
Hes quiet and aloof.
But it becomes clear it is much, much more than that.
Ian has two very interesting conversations while settling in at Frasers Ridge.
Ian is thankful, but not ready to talk about it.
There are things you keep hidden from others you and Claire both, he adds.
Hm, I wonder what he could be talking about, maybecoughtimetravelcough?
Honestly, this man, folks.
Ian also has a stoop chat with the very pregnant Marsali.
Shes so happy Ian will be there to welcome the new baby.
A real hoot this little surveying party is.
She tells Jamie that shes worried Roger has gone off on this surveying mission with no plans to return.
Seriously, bless her.
Unfortunately, all they can do is wait.
Roger doesnt seem great.
Hes forlornly looking off cliff sides and stuff.
Thats all he needs to put him on the road to recovery.
He wants to get back to his wife and son.
Hes ready to start talking again to start living again.
So, its not Roger that Claire should be worried about with the water hemlock.
Roger comes in, kicks over the hemlock before he can drink it and the two men finallytalk.
Its Roger who finally convinces Ian to pick up his weapon, go home, and fight.
What a full circle moment here, seeing Roger save Ians life.
But Roger has one more important conversation to have: He needs to talk to Bree.
He tells her that a part of him died that day and hell never be the same.
He tells her that she was the last face he saw.
He tells her that no matter what, hell always sing for her.
I mean, that last thing is A LOT even for me, lover of romance.
And yet, these two deserve a win after everything, dont they?
