It is a bold move, to end a season with what is essentially the Architect scene fromMatrix Reloaded.
Is it an allusion to Kangs comic-book origins, and the many aliases by which hes known?
Majors is a delight in this role.
But of course, what of Sylvies calamity?
What of the calamities of various Lokis, of Mobius, of the Minutemen?
This is where his viewpoint fails; he considers the tragedies hes inflicted on others as lesser, acceptable.
Instead, he got lonely, and attempted to reconnect with Thor.
He is old, he says, and looking for a replacement.
Or will they follow through on their quest, with Sylvie giving in to her need for vengeance?
Even he doesnt know, as hes only engineered the flow of events to a certain point.
The choice beyond that belongs to the two of them.
Of course, those choices seem foregone, much like the MCUs commitment to blasted wasteland environments.
Sylvie, meanwhile, has been hunted.
Consider, too, that He Who Remains has found these losses acceptable.
The offer of power, control, those are offers meant to appeal toLoki, not Sylvie.
Sylvie has been allowed one purpose in all of this, and that is the quest for vengeance.
Thats where the lie in his plan is revealed.
These events were engineered specifically to put both Loki and Sylvie at odds.
Mobius finally confronts Renslayer, but the encounter is short, and ends with him on the floor.
Renslayer departs through a portal to destinations unknown.
These are scenes that should have consequences, but dont, at least not yet.
When Loki is returned to the TVA by Sylvie, he finds it changed.
Mobius and Hunter B-15 have no idea who he is.
As a series,Lokihas tried interesting things.
His final scene is him being run through with a sword by a white woman.
