Presumably anyone on that stage loves movies, but for del Toro, that devotion runs a bit deeper.
Other people love movies del Toro lives them.
But when hes dialed in, del Toro is a master at mixing high art and pulp pleasures.
This creates an interesting challenge when ranking his films.
Do you dig his arty, foreign-language offerings (Pans Labyrinth,The Devils Backbone)?
Are you partial to his gonzo action films (Pacific Rim, theHellboymovies)?
And where, exactly, do you placeNightmare Alley?
You may feel the exact opposite.

But it feels just like any other horror movie, only a little bit better.
And theres nothing just like any other movie about del Toro, ever.
For what its worth: Del Toros directors cut, released in 2011, is only a marginal improvement.
11.Blade II(2002)
11.

10.Pacific Rim(2013)

7.Crimson Peak(2015)

Like the film itself, Chastain pulls out all the stops for a wonderfully, ludicrously over-the-top finale.
6.Hellboy II: The Golden Army(2008)
6.
Del Toro let his silly freak flag fly here, and its a blast.
5.Cronos(1993)
5.
I wantedCronosto be counter to every vampire film I had ever seen …youre feeling pity for the vampire.
The lucky (or is it unlucky?)
4.Guillermo del Toros Pinocchio(2022)
4.
If you see only one 2022 Collodi adaptation, well, lets just say you might skip Robert Zemeckiss.
3.The Devils Backbone(2001)
3.
2.The Shape of Water(2017)

1.Pans Labyrinth(2006)
